DANIEL GAUTIER

Painter and printmaker
1957-2021

Born in Longueuil in 1957, Daniel Gautier began oil painting at 12 years old and took his first private painting lessons in Montreal. Later, he continued his training in various studios in Europe.

As a young adult, the sea fascinates him. He discovered the Magdalen Island in the Maritimes and settled there for fifteen years. Later on, Daniel Gautier lived in Hudson, at Lac des Deux-Montagnes, and spent several months a year in the Maritimes.

Daniel Gautier is a painter of the sea and year after year, his stays in the Maritimes were essential rituals that highlighted all his work.
